Which streetwear niche do you choose?

Choose one direction before you design anything: technical or gorpcore, workwear, skate, luxury, Y2K nostalgia or European minimalism. Streetwear is too big to enter without focus. Starting your own clothing brand takes seven steps, and choosing your niche is the first.

Then give your brand a story: a city, a generation, a music style, a sport. Write it down before you have your first tech pack made, the technical blueprint of your product. A clear story attracts a clear community; a vague brand attracts no one.

Which product do you start a streetwear brand with?

With one signature piece your brand will become known for: a hoodie, a cap, a jacket or a graphic tee. Most new brands launch too much at once. Make that one piece perfect, the rest can come later.

Want your drop to feel more complete? Add one accessory with the same branding. An embroidered cap or beanie costs a fraction of a hoodie per piece and sells to people who will not yet spend €120 on an unknown brand. An existing cap style with your embroidery can join the same production in a small quantity.

What quality does a streetwear buyer expect?

Streetwear buyers feel cheap straight away. Go for t-shirts of 300 GSM or more and hoodies of 400 GSM or more. GSM is the fabric weight in grams per square metre: the higher the number, the heavier the fabric.

Choose decoration that lasts: screen printing or embroidery instead of cheap transfers. Custom labels and hangtags are not a luxury, they are signals that you are serious. Invest in quality before quantity.

How many pieces do you order per style?

With us, a production starts at 10 pieces per style, on a proven style with your fabric, print and labels. For a run of ten you choose two sizes, for example 5 in M and 5 in L. That way you test a new fit or colour without financing a whole season of stock in advance.

A fully custom pattern, with your own cut, starts at 150 pieces per style. For a first drop, a proven style with your details is exactly enough.

Why do streetwear brands choose private label?

Because then the product is truly yours. Every serious streetwear brand develops its own fits, fabrics and details. With private label, we produce and you are the brand: your fabric, your fit, your labels and your packaging.

We make your streetwear in our own workshop in Turkey, with no agents or traders in between. For other products we also work in China, Bangladesh, Italy and Portugal on request, depending on what suits the product. Heavy fleece and cotton twill run differently from a technical shell, and you see that in price and lead time.

Want to hold your sample before you approve bulk? You can, in our showroom at Marssteden 122 in Enschede, by appointment and within an ongoing sample or production process.

How does a streetwear drop work?

You release a limited collection three to six times a year, and sold out means done. Classic retail, with everything in stock all year round, rarely works for a new streetwear brand.

That way every release becomes a moment and you are not left with old stock. Only announce your drop date once your sample is approved: if you communicate earlier, you box yourself in.

How do you build a streetwear community?

Ten thousand real fans are worth more than a hundred thousand passive followers. Streetwear buyers want to belong somewhere, so give them a place: a Discord server, a private WhatsApp group for early access or offline events.

Collaborations help with that. Not with big celebrities (too expensive and too generic), but with people who have influence within your niche: local artists, rappers, skaters, photographers. A collab of 30 pieces with the right person does more for your brand than a thousand separate sales.

What does a streetwear lookbook cost?

Count on €500 to €2,000 for a campaign with a good photographer. Online, your imagery determines how people see your brand, before anyone has felt your fabric.

Keep your aesthetic consistent across all channels. No stock photos and no amateur snapshots: every image has to strengthen your brand.

What price do you charge for streetwear?

Pricing too low feels like low quality. In streetwear, tees sit between €45 and €80, hoodies between €90 and €180 and jackets between €180 and €450.

Calculate with your cost price × 4 to 5. That gives a healthy margin and fits that positioning.

What does a first streetwear drop cost?

Work out your drop before you design it. The biggest costs are production, samples (from €150 per style, depending on the style) and your imagery. With us a printed neck label is included in the price, even at 10 pieces; a woven label is possible at an extra cost. That is how you turn a garment into a brand.

Do not forget the invisible part: shipping to your customer, returns and stock that goes unsold. A smaller first run with a higher unit price is almost always cheaper than a large run you have to mark down.

Frequently asked questions

How much money do I need for a streetwear drop?

A first drop of 50 tees and 50 hoodies costs €3,499 excluding VAT with us: €29.99 per tee and €39.99 per hoodie, with a print and a printed neck label. Samples, shipping and photography come on top of that.

Can I start a streetwear brand without Instagram?

Yes, but you do need a channel where your audience is: TikTok, a Discord community or offline events. What does not work is launching without an audience.

What is a good first drop size?

Small enough to sell out, big enough for a healthy unit price. In practice, 50 to 150 pieces, spread over one or two styles, works well for a first drop.

How far in advance do I plan a drop?

Count back from your drop date: at least 5 to 6 weeks after payment for a sample round, room for a possible second round, and then another at least 5 to 6 weeks after payment for production. Add your photography and your announcement to that.
