Privacy statement. Your data, in black and white.
MakeaLabel uses your data to answer your request, and only measures your visit for advertising if you consent to it. Dry stuff, but it is about you. So below, topic by topic, you can read which data it is, what we use it for, how long we keep it and which rights you have.

Which version applies?
This privacy statement is a translation of our Dutch privacy statement. If the two differ, the Dutch version applies.
Who is responsible for your data?
MakeaLabel is the controller for personal data collected through this website. Only for ad measurement with Meta do we share that responsibility with Meta; you can read how below, under the Meta Pixel.

Which data do we process?
Mostly what you fill in yourself when you send a request or ask us a question:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number, required if we follow up your request on WhatsApp: that is where we send our proposal
- What you tell us about your project, such as your idea, quantities, timing, a budget or a link to an example
We also record your cookie choice, without your IP address, and count clicks without keeping anything that identifies you. If you consent to marketing cookies, we also measure your visit with Meta. You can read about all three below.
What do we use your data for?
For each purpose we state the legal basis under the GDPR, the European privacy law, that allows it.
- Answering your request, following it up on WhatsApp or by email, having a draft reply prepared and preparing a quote: performance of a contract or steps at your request before entering into one (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). For general questions: our legitimate interest in answering you (Article 6(1)(f)).
- Measuring which Facebook and Instagram ads work and showing our ads to the right people, with the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API: only with your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Article 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunications Act).
- Counting how often a WhatsApp button or a send button is clicked and which channel a visit came from, so we know which pages work: our legitimate interest in improving our site (Article 6(1)(f)). Nothing is stored on or read from your device for this, and we keep no data that identifies you, so no consent is needed.
- Recording your cookie choice so we can demonstrate what you chose: our legal obligation to demonstrate consent (Article 6(1)(c) and Article 7(1) GDPR).
We do not take decisions about you based solely on automated processing, and you will not receive a newsletter unless you ask for one separately.
What do the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API do?
What do we use them for?
If you consent to marketing cookies, we use the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API to measure which Facebook and Instagram ads lead to visits and requests. We use the same data to target our ads: Meta Advantage+ finds people our ads are relevant to, and in Meta we build audiences, such as previous visitors to this site, who are shown our ads again.
Which data is sent to Meta?
In your browser: the cookies _fbp and _fbc and a random visitor ID. Sent to Meta: your IP address, details about your browser and device, the addresses of the pages you visit, clicks on WhatsApp, email and quote buttons, and the steps of the price estimate.
If you send a request, your browser and our server also send your email address, phone number, first and last name and country in hashed form (SHA-256), as far as you filled them in. Hashing turns data into a fixed code that cannot be turned back into, for example, your email address. Meta does compare that code with the hashed details of Facebook and Instagram accounts, so it remains personal data. We never send the content of your message to Meta.
How does the data reach Meta?
Directly from your browser to Meta, through the Conversions API Gateway set up for our Meta pixel, and for a request from our server to Meta. Meta removes duplicate reports itself. Who operates the gateway for us will be added here.
On which legal basis?
Your consent only. Without consent we do not load the Meta Pixel, do not set Meta cookies and our server does not send anything to Meta either.
Who is responsible?
MakeaLabel and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited are joint controllers for collection and transmission. The arrangement is set out in Meta's Controller Addendum: https://www.facebook.com/legal/controller_addendum.
After that, Meta uses the data as an independent controller, including to show and improve ads. Meta's privacy policy explains how: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/.
How long is it kept?
The retention periods of _fbp, _fbc and the visitor ID are in the cookie table above. Meta keeps event data for up to two years.
How do you switch it off?
Switch off Marketing via Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. We stop immediately: the pixel stops, we delete _fbp, _fbc and the visitor ID, and our server no longer sends anything to Meta. Data sent before you withdrew was processed lawfully. If you want Meta to delete data it already holds, you can exercise that right with Meta through Meta's privacy policy. We will help if you ask us at info@makealabel.nl.
Who do we share your data with?
We do not sell your data. These service providers process it on our behalf, under data processing agreements:
- Vercel: hosting of this website, including technical log files.
- Neon, via Vercel: the database of our customer system, which holds your request and the record of your cookie choice.
- Resend: sends the email with your request to our inbox.
- CommuniQate: forwards your request to our WhatsApp system so we can follow up there.
- Anthropic: prepares a draft reply to your request for our staff.
- The operator of the Conversions API Gateway: processes measurement data for Meta, only with your consent.
Only with your consent does Meta Platforms Ireland Limited also receive data. Meta is not a processor: we are jointly responsible for collection and transmission, after which Meta is an independent controller.
Does your data leave the European Economic Area?
Partly, yes. Meta Platforms Ireland shares data with Meta Platforms, Inc. in the United States. Meta Platforms, Inc. is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission adopted an adequacy decision on 10 July 2023.
The Conversions API Gateway runs on Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud servers in the United States; its transfer basis will be added here. Where Anthropic, Resend, Vercel and the database process data, and on which basis, will also be added here.
How long do we keep your data?
The retention period for requests will be added here once we have set it. Our starting point: requests that do not lead to an order are kept no longer than necessary, and records relating to orders are kept for the statutory retention period.
- The record of your cookie choice (a random code, your choice, the text version, language, page and time, without IP address): 36 months, then deleted automatically.
- A counted click (which button, which page, which channel, country and time, without IP address and without any code linking visits together): 24 months, then deleted automatically.

Would you like us to delete your data sooner? Let us know and we will, unless a legal obligation requires us to keep it.
How do we protect your data?
This website only works over a secure connection (https). What you fill in on a form is sent encrypted and only reaches the staff who handle your request and the service providers listed above.
A hidden field in the form detects spam bots. That field does not process personal data.
What are your rights?
You have the right to access, correct or delete your data. You can also object to the processing, ask us to restrict it or ask for your data to be transferred. Send your request to info@makealabel.nl; we respond within four weeks.
If you gave consent, you can withdraw it at any time via Cookie settings at the bottom of every page, just as easily as you gave it.
If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
When does this statement change?
Whenever our website or the way we work changes. The date at the top of this page shows when we last updated it.
